The Department of Social Development and Housing supports individuals in Prince Edward Island that are in need, by providing services such as financial assistance, housing support, child protection, and disability support, either directly or in partnership with community organizations. Some of the priorities in this mandate are to lead the development of a comprehensive poverty elimination strategy, review and update support programs, ensure that housing supports are meeting current and future needs, and work with other departments to ensure that Islanders with the greatest needs are being supported. The department also works with the Seniors Secretariat which ensures seniors have a strong voice in government.

You will have an opportunity to implement new and innovative processes and lead positive change within an organization with a critical mandate of supporting at-risk children, youth, young adults, and families. As a key member of the Senior Management Team of Social Development and Housing, the Director of Child and Family Services will work collaboratively with the Office of the Child and Youth Advocate to ensure divisional programs and services are administered in compliance with the PEI Child and Youth Advocate Act, and will also seek input, guidance, and support from the Office of the Child and Youth Advocate on matters related to children and youth. As a highly skilled and organized leader, you see the value in identifying efficiencies, reducing redundancy, and streamlining processes from within to provide even greater support to those in need.
You will work in a highly collaborative environment, surrounded by a passionate and dedicated team. On top of the eminent and supportive working environment, the Department of Social Development and Housing also provides benefits such as pension, health and dental benefits, disability insurance, access to an employee assistance program, life insurance, on-site parking, paid time off, relocation assistance, and vision care. As stated previously, this leadership opportunity will provide you the opportunity to lead change from within.
