To continue fostering the health and wellness of its people, they are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Health who will play a pivotal role in leading health initiatives and supporting the overall well-being of the community.

As the Director of Health, you will report directly to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) and be responsible for leading and enhancing the Health Centre and managing comprehensive healthcare programs. You will lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of health programs that are aligned with Mi'kmaq traditions and community needs. You will manage the Health Centre staff, ensuring that all team members adhere to policies and provide high-quality care. As Director you will also collaborate with local health authorities to secure resources and address pressing health issues such as chronic disease prevention, mental health, and elder care. Additionally, you will oversee budget management, strategic planning, and policy development, ensuring compliance with federal and provincial regulations. Regularly reporting to Chief and Council, you will communicate health program updates to stakeholders and advocate for community health improvements.

Ideal Candidate:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a health-related discipline, healthcare administration, business administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years of progressive health programming experience, including in leadership roles.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities or organizations is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with financial budgets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex information and draft a variety of written healthcare reports.
  • Master’s degree in a health-related profession, considered an asset
