The PEI Union of Public Sector Employees (UPSE) proudly unites employees in the Province of Prince Edward Island from both the public and private sector, as a democratic organization capable of acting on their behalf.
Reporting to the President, the Executive Director provides leadership and accountability for the staff of UPSE and ensures the organization is effectively servicing its membership. They will be a collaborative leader with a passion for mentorship, relationship building, and trade unionism. They are knowledgeable of labour law, can provide expert advice in collective bargaining and mediation, and have a proven track record as a leader within a unionized environment.
The successful candidate has a post-secondary degree in a relevant field coupled with unionized leadership and teambuilding experience. They have experience interpreting collective agreements and leading or participating in union negotiations and collective bargaining. An understanding and knowledge of the collective bargaining process, collective agreements, relevant acts and regulations, and current issues related to health care and the public sector is required. The Executive Director has superior EQ and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated experience cultivating and building strong relationships and motivating others to achieve a shared vision. The successful candidate has strong problem solving, conflict management, and facilitation skills, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.
